This is a website all about:
The Severn Valley Railway
There are a few heritage railways in Britain that can compare to the 16-mile stretch of railway line running from Shropshire to Worcestershire.
Scenic vistas, stunning bridges and a truly one-of-a-kind set of carriages make for an amazing experience for both young and old alike. This website aims to give you an idea as to what it’s like to ride aboard this vintage train and also gives you a few ideas about things that you can do whilst you’re travelling through this neck of the woods.
Following the River Severn for the majority of its route, those who choose to ride the SVR are in for a truly historical treat. Built in 1862, the SVR has operated in much the same way since it’s first voyage, buy it’s thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers that it has run for as long as it has. Thanks to the hard work of so many of these individuals the railway remains in the immaculate state that it’s in today.
